Overall, the vibe is a fusion of old school charm and urban youth.
Where I went:
Dublin (The Davenport Hotel)
Since my hotel was centrally located, I walked to most locations. If you want to hire a driver, keep in mind that Uber is not used in Dublin. Download the My Taxi app before you arrive. Also, if you’re departing from Ireland to the US, allow extra time as you’ll clear US customs before you depart.

What I wore:
Ireland is known for its rainy weather, but it was sunny and cold when I visited. I went with a city chic look, wearing my black Prada combat boots, over-the-knee boots, leather jacket, Urban Outfitters belts and a colorful array of knit beanies. I mixed in some fun tops to add a pop color to my look. I also splurged on a pair of faux leather shorts from Top Shop when shopping near St. Stephen’s Green.

What I did:
For this trip, I let the Irish be my guide. I struck up conversations everywhere I went, starting with my cab driver from the airport to my hotel. I checked out many of their recommendations. I walked for miles along the River Liffey, shopped on Grafton street, enjoyed the street art and buskers, indulged in Temple Bar nightlife, and visited Teeling Distillery and Guinness Brewery. Dublin is a city of tradition that is colored by music, art and youth, thanks to the influence of Trinity College.

What I ate/drank:
I ate loads of traditional pub fare. The legal drinking age in Ireland is 18, and there is plenty of great nightlife. The Temple Bar area has something for everyone—DJs spinning house music, traditional Irish pubs, etc.

Social media musts:
Dublin is a great city to photograph after dark—the umbrellas at Zozimus Bar, Grafton Street and Temple Bar provide moody shots. During the day, it’s all about Georgian doors, street art, and traditional architecture.
